The stamping under the cup has Pat 2467002:
This particular patent seems to refer to the "grate" aspect of the pipe, the metal screen under the bowl There is also the Aristocrat Airograte, a copper finish version, identical in every other way The screen is a 3/4 inch diameter The bottom image is another version of the Airograte, with a round smoke tube this time I have yet another version,with copper strip running thro the cooling vanes, but not sure if this was a home made modification. 22 Feb 1966 US Patent # D203914 Inventor Frederick A Fassbender, West Orange, New Jersey, albeit the pipe was advertised in 1960 at $2.95, spare bowls $1.50 each. Another deal that year was a complete pipe and 2 extra bowls for $5.95. All of which suggested a double check on the patent dates but that was correct. |
