Plastic shanked pipe with threaded briar bowl. Box came with two spare filter crystal devices. No maker's name, just Captain's Special Filter Pipe. No idea what the crystals are, probably not a good idea to taste them !!
Overall length 5 11/16 inches (145 m/m) Jonas Cestmir tells us the "Old Captain“ pipe featured on your website was manufactured in Hungary, circa seventies-eighties. The crystals in the plastic cartridge are silicagel or similar moisture-absorbing material. Similar cartridges were also used in several models of East German "Howal“ pipes. |
