METAL STEM & Plug in bowls |
Seems to be quite rare, certainly this is the only one I have found in 10 years of looking. US Patent 2382627 was assigned to James B Giern 14 August 1945 (filed 13 July 1943). Assigner of one half to Anders P Anholtt, both of Detroit, Michigan. No indication of any manufacturer The metal shank is a push fit into the bowl and can be rotated to align the various pairs of hole in the smoke tube, where it is in the chamber, to alter the volume of smoke allowed to pass. On my example the smoke tube is definitely soldered to the finned shank. The patent implies this was free moving |
