The pipe is American made and has on the bottom "U.S. and FOR PAT PENDING". On the top of the shank is the brand "Duck Bill".
The bowl is briar and it comes completely off the base, which looks like Bakelite. The gold band around the shank slides up and off the pipe and the clip on the bottom of the bowl slides off at the other end and the pipe becomes four separate pieces. This allows you to clean the pipe thoroughly while still keeping a seal. A pipe cleaner passes easily through the stem and the shank into the bowl. |
