The lower pipe here, this is presumably a later "Sweetheart" with the stamping being "Sweetheart" and a heart and MADE IN USA on the left side of a plain hexagonal cross section shank and "Sweetheart" and a heart and PAT PENDING." on the right side This one has flat surfaces to the shank The same internal filtering system as the earlier model which permits ingress of air from outside the pipe on drawing on pipe. There was the remains of some fibrous filter in the smaller part of the insert. It is hard to see the reason for this 'filter' arrangement, unless the patent can be found This variant has a different rubber mouthpiece Overall length 5 5/8 inches (143 m/m) |
